This is a great song by mark.....the only song i love after if disbanded from dire straits......the second worse comprises of german buildings british made... But it is rather german built and british made.....because the region where mark knopfler talks about was a tribe region somewhere in north of england where the buildins where financed by germans and constructed by the britishers.............

It looks like these lyrics were taken right from one of MK albums. Many of his albums don't have printed lyrics. Even if is is from that source I pretty sure the words are "German built and British made" rather than "German building..."
German built and British made are two distinctly different concepts - basically, German financed and organized but literally made by the Brits.
