Blaze of Ashes

Hang on, I'll be back by Monday", you said. It's been days now, still not a sign from you.
So I wait here in the dark while sharpening knives, counting hours and crows to pass the time.
Waiting as the days are turning to years, I've been hanging out for so long, out in these desert hills.
And I sit alone here, I'm so tired of needing a ride, I've been wasting years now, and I hope you're feeling proud.
Down you go in a blaze of ashes and all I know is that you have been lying through your teeth.
There's always someone there who can take your place, all you are is just a little bit too easy.
And down you go in a blaze of dirt. "Hang on, I'll be back by Monday", you said. It's been years now,
still not a sign from you I've got miles left to go and I'm not in the mood for this walk, so I'm counting hours and crows 'til I get home.
