Just a few notes here:
1) This is my first foray into the world of fingerpicking.
2) Even with that, this is a pretty easy riff to do with a little practice.
3) To pull it off, you're probably going to have to alternate between fingerpicking and
using the actual pick. Some of the changes are fast, and there's really no trick
to get better at it than just doing it over and over.
Now that that's out of the way...
This is the main riff of the song, fingerpicked over all the verses.
(The last note is just a pickup for the repeat)
Main Riff:
This is the riff for the last part of the verse leading into the chorus.
(The first half is fingerpicked and the second is played with a pick)
Riff 2:
Here is a little riff that's played in the bridge.
Riff 3:
This is the riff that happens right before the outro.
Riff 4:
Finally we have the outro riffs which end the song.
Riff 5:
Riff 6:
INTRO:
Main Riff x 2
VERSE 1:
Main Riff
The girl works at the store, sweet Jane St. Clair.
Main Riff
Was dazzled by her smile while I shopped there.
Main Riff
It wasn't long before I lived with her.
Riff 2
I sang her songs, ah, while she dyed my hair.
CHORUS 1:
Jane, divided,
but I can't decide which side I'm on.
Jane, decided
only cowards stay while traitors run.
Jane, Jane.
Main Riff
VERSE 2:
Main Riff
I'd bring her gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Main Riff
She thought that I was making fun of her.
Main Riff
She made me feel I was 14 again.
Riff 2
That's why she thinks it's cooler if we'd just stay friends.
CHORUS 2:
Jane doesn't
think a man could ever be faithful.
Jane isn't
giving me a chance to be shameful.
Jane, Jane.
BRIDGE:
Bm G C Riff 3
I wrote a letter, she should have got it yesterday.
That life could be better by being together,
Is what I cannot explain to Jane.
Main Riff
VERSE 3:
Main Riff
The girl works at the store, sweet Jane St. Clair.
Main Riff
Still dazzled by her smile while I shoplift there.
Main Riff
No promises as vague as heaven.
Riff 2
No Juliana next to my Evan.
CHORUS 3:
Jane, desired
by the people at her school and work.
Jane is tired,
'cause every man becomes a lovesick jerk.
Jane, Jane, c'mon.
OUTRO:
Main Riff
Riff 4
Riff 5
Riff 6 and end on Csus2
No problem, right???
