When I Get Where I'm Going

Dĺžka piesne: 04:08
(feat. Dolly Parton)

When I get where I'm going
On the far side off the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

Yeah when I get where I'm goin
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

I'm gonna walk with my grand daddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck

Yeah when I get where I'm goin
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do

But when I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of his amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm goin
Oh When I get where I'm goin
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah when I get where I'm going

Comfort when needed | Reviewer: Doris Erskine | 4/8/11

I heard this for the first time at my mom's funeral...and now I can't hear it enough. It does bring comfort to hear this song and it's message. We have already told our girls we want this played at our funerals. To all of you who have lost your loved ones...just remember what a grand reunion you will have with them one day. I hold onto that thought. It helps a lot.

A Tribute To My Nephew Jeff | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/22/10

Today Jeff we celebrated your homegoing -- it was so hard to let you go at age 24 but when I heard the words to this song "When I Get To Where I'm Going" I knew that you had taken the journey and were in fellowship with your dad that was taken when you were only five. You've had a void in your life but now you and dad can join one another again. We will always love and miss both of you but the sweet memories will live in our hearts. Now you are walking side by side and fellowshiping with God.
Love, Aunt Harlan and Uncle Bill

My wonderful father | Reviewer: Susan | 3/28/10

My wonderful 88 year old father went to heaven this morning. His heart just stopped and he left quietly. Yesterday, as I was entering the hospital parking lot, this song came on the radio. The words of the song brought such peace to me as I listened again today. I know that he is whole again and spending time with our baby who died and all the loved ones who have gone before. Thank you to Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton for recording a song which can give peace to those left behind. I know Daddy is in a better place. I'm just so sad because I will miss him every day.

Simply Beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/28/09

I'm a huge Brad Paisley fan, and I think this is the best song he's ever performed (though he didn't actually write it). And he and Dolly have a great harmonic blend! The song wouldn't be the same without her.

I'm very fortunate to not have had anyone close to me pass away yet, but it's a testament to the power of this song that it can make even me cry a river.

The video is wonderful too by the way. My favorite part is where they show the photo of Ronald Reagan (YEAH)!

Beautifully written, beautifully sung, beautifully produced, worth listening to again and again and again...

When I Get Where I'm Going | Reviewer: Carol Burton | 5/18/09

I lost my son Charles M Strong II, on January 10, 2008. He was 29 yrs young. Chuck always wanted to be an astronaut from the time he was a small child. Due to heart problems and surgery he could never fulfill his dream. He was a good man and a wonderful child. I know when I hear this song he is up with the stars now getting to enjoy them first hand.

I heard | Reviewer: gina | 4/3/09

this song for the very first time at the church service for my brother Dino's funeral just two weeks ago. It made me cry at church. It made me cry when I heard it again just now. What a beautiful song. Perhaps at some point it will bring a smile to my eyes rather than just tears.

My Grandpa | Reviewer: Pattye | 8/18/08

The first time I heard this song, I thought of my Grandpa, who was like a father to us, as ours was not around. I thought I can't wait to see him again and see the Lord. It is a beutiful song. It has been played at several funerals that I have had to attend.

Missing my Papaw | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/23/08

Whenever I hear this song and it gets to the part about "my grand daddy", I well up a little with tears. My papaw passed in March of 2002 after suffering 10 years with Alzheimer's. I still miss him everyday and can imagine walking and talking with him again. But mostly I imagine hugging his neck (we used to sing that song "I love you a bushel and a peck..." when I was little). I can usually contain myself when this song comes on the radio, but the other day I saw the video. At that tearful point in the song I was greatful that I was home alone because I didn't just get a tear or two... I bawled my eyes out. I love this song, I just can't watch the video. :)

a once close friend | Reviewer: Emily | 12/22/07

One of my best freinds died at the young age of 16 from cancer. Her parents played this song at her funeral and it really touched my heart. That was the first time i had heard that song so for me and many others that was a wonderful song to here at that time. I just want to thank Brad Paisly and Dolly Parton For the song they did an awesome job.

Solace | Reviewer: Katherine | 11/22/07

Although "When I Get Where I'm Going" makes me weep every time I hear it, I have to say that it offers me such comfort and peace. My one and only brother died of lung cancer on December 31, 1997 - he was 56. I lost my beloved son when he was only 38 on February 10, 2001. My greatest treasure - my father was taken from me in 2002. A victim of that cruelest of diseases, Alzheimers. Dad lived 84 glorious years. In 2003, my mom, who I cherished so much passed away. Devastating losses to all our family. Never has a song had such an impact on me. Thank you, Brad paisley for such an emotional and beautiful song.
