I am a writer on this song along with Buck Owens and Dennis Knutson.
The inspiration for this song was My Son and Daughter, Danny Michael (Mike) Shatswell, Jr. and Lois Christine (Christy) Shatswell. (now Rodriguez). I was wondering how I could tell them at their young age why I would only see them on weekends. They are now grown with children of their own.
Just thought I would add this info to a song I am very proud of.
