Andrew Preston

Face

With eyes that never really saw
With deaf ears that heard it all

With a nose to scent deceit and lies
Spoken by lips with infinite cries

With cheeks stained by tears, rosy with despair
With a mind full of thoughts, a dream of faithful care

A face of dispassionate reflections of life fatigued
A face gone tainted, befallen unclean

A face of discouraged, infected grief
An angel's arrival and death's sweet relief
