He got lost from his unit in the j ^C ungle alone,
with the ^G enemy on the ad ^D vance;
As the bullets and tracers flew ^C over his head,
he knew ^G that he didn't have a ^D chance.
He fired his rifle and ^C tried to be brave,
though his ^G senses were frightened and ^D numb;
He lay on the ground with a ^C lump in his throat

But ^G back home a mother was ^D down on her knees
praying, " ^G Be with my son, keep him ^D safe, Father, please."
When it ^G all looked so hopeless, just a ^D one-sided fight,
his de ^E liverance flew into the ^A night.
And the ^D enemy ^C scatt ^G ered as the chopper touched ^D down
and lifted the soldier off the hard killing ^A ground;
He could feel the LORD's ^C pres ^G ence in the hot jungle ^D air,
^G surrounded by ^D mercy, ^A protected by ^D prayer.
^D She had to work late, she was ^C hurrying along,
^G trying to get home before ^D dark;
Against her better judgement, she ^C turned from her way,
and took the ^G shortcut that ran through the ^D park.
With night falling quickly and ^C no one around,
from the ^G deep shadows there stepped a ^D man;
She noticed the cold, evil ^C look in his eyes,
then ^G she saw the knife in his ^D hand.
She ^G cried out, "LORD, Jesus, I'm ^D one of Your own,
send me ^G help, LORD, you know I can't ^D face this alone."
As the ^G powers of heaven fought the ^D forces of hell,
the ^E man tripped and stumbled and ^A fell.
She ^D walked through the ^C dark ^G ness without worry or ^D fear,
knowing nothing could harm her 'cause her angel was ^A near
No evil could ^C touch ^G her, no demon would ^D dare,
^G surrounded by ^D mercy, ^A protected by ^D prayer.

And the heavens were ^C open ^G ed and conviction fell ^D down.
And he cried out for mercy as he knelt on the ^A ground
