For those who have a problem with the first line of the song - "I'm forgiven, because you were forsaken" - Jesus was forsaken by the very ones He loved and came to save. Then, as He hung on the cross He cried out to His Father, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?" I love the song and I believe it is scripturally correct. It came out of His own mouth that He was forsaken. What an amazing love!!!

How can we HONESTLY sing, "in ALL i do i honor YOU." No One honors Jeus in all thy do. I sing along but I sing "its my joy to honor YOU, in all I do TO honor YOU." I sing it that way because that is my desire...to honor Jesus in all I do.

While I understand your point about the first line of this song, I disagree with the context that you are applying to the line in the song (but I understand your context and would agree with you completely if the framing you stated in your comment was completely detailed in the song). I believe the context of the first line is the forsaking of man to god, man to Jesus on the earth that lead to his death on the cross FOR us, not that God would forsake Jesus/Himself.
Just my thought, love the song as well and I too think about some of the lines in songs and their context....great discussion, great song, greatest subject of all ;)

I am amazed that denial of Jesus Christ as Son of God, Son of Man; and His proclamation as God is destorted by saying that Jesus was forsaken and thus denied by God the Father which becomes a statement of denial of the Trinity. Read the Gospel of John with greater care and note the proclamations of Jesus throuhout. We are forgiven because God gave of Himself in and through the death of Jesus and shed His blood for our sin. The Holy and righteous Jesus never ceased being "fully God and fully man." See also Psalm 22 and put verse one in context of the rest of the Psalm and note especially verse 24 (verses 2 & 25 if you are reading the Hebrew text.)
Lot of good thought in this song but the theology in the first line NOT orthodox, i.e. Biblical.

Last Sunday we sang this song and different people were given the opportunity to sing and confess that I am forgiven, accepted and alive because of the price He paid for us. It was very powerful and moving.
