Washday Blues

Last Saturday night I looked like a princess dressed in calico
Now blue Monday washday I look like a lady hobo
Just rubbin' and a scrubbin' and a raisin' 'em out
I gotta hang 'em out early I hope the sun comes out
(Wash 'em out ring 'em out hang 'em on the line
Get a little tired just think about the good times) washday blues

Now I ain't never been very lucky I ain't never won a prize
But I'd like to get a job on TV for some of that soap they advertise
Rubbin' and scrubbin...

Well that good lookin' good lovin' no good man of mine
Could buy me a washin' machine
But he spends all his money on payday to make me look like a queen
Now rubbin' and scrubbin'...

My Thoughts on Washday Blues | Reviewer: Joyce Baker | 11/11/10

I was mightily impressed to do a story about how thankful I am that my automatic washer stopped performing. I was given a dear old wringer washer, by my Dad, that belonged to his late wife and my wonderful step-mom. The washer had sit in the basement of their house for over twenty years and had not been even plugged up.It works like a new one, almost. The reason I am so happy about all this is that it has gotten me outside and moving around. I had gotten really pampered by my washer and dryer and now realize the great outdoors is the place to be on washday. The only blues that get to me are the shades in the clouds as I smell the warm sun and frabic drenched clothes, blowing in the wind.

PS I know this review is supposed to be about Dolly Parton's Washday Blues. I am sitting here hoping to hear the song . I live way out in the country and my dial-up computer service has me missing out on alot of things, especially music and movies, and so on. If this song is anything like any of Dolly's other songs, I know I will love and enjoy it. Dolly is one of my idols. She is beautiful, caring and a good woman.
