White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)

Aaah, aaah, aaah, aaah)
Uhraah!
Bass!

Ooh White, White
Ooh White, White
Ooh White, White

(Ooh White Lines) Vision dreams of passion
(Blowin’ through my mind) and all the while I think of you
(High price) a very strange reaction
(For us to unwind) the more I see, the more I do
(Something like a phenomenon) Baby!
(Tellin your body to come along, but white lines blow away)
(Blow! Rock it! Blow!)

Ticket to ride, white line highway
Tell all your friends, they can go my way
Pay your toll, sell your soul
Pound for pound costs more than gold
The longer you stay, the more you pay
My white lines go a long way
Either up your nose or through your vein
With nothin to gain except killin’ your brain

(Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!)
(Blow!)

(Ahhh) Higher, baby
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
And don't ever come down! (Freebase!)

Rang dang diggedy dang di-dang
Rang dang diggedy dang di-dang
Rang dang diggedy dang di-dang
Diggedy dang di-dang diggedy dang di-dang

(Pipeline) pure as the driven snow
(Connected to my mind) and now I'm havin’ fun, baby!
(High price) it's getting kinda low
(Cause it makes you feel so nice) I need some one-on-one, baby!
(Don't let it blow your mind away) Baby!
(And go into your little hideaway ‘cause white lines blow away)
(Blow! Rock it! Blow!)

A million magic crystals, painted pure and white
A multi-million dollars almost overnight
Twice as sweet as sugar, twice as bitter as salt
And if you get hooked, baby, it's nobody else's fault, so don't do it!

(Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!)
Raah! (Blow!)

(Ahhh) Higher, baby
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
And don't ever come down! (Freebase!)

(Don’t you get too high) don’t you get too high baby!
(Turns you on) you really turn me on and on
('Cause you gotta come down) my temperature is risin’
(When the thrill is gone) no, I don’t want you to go

A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time
He got out three years from now just to commit more crime
A businessman is caught with 24 kilos
He’s out on bail and out of jail
And that’s the way it goes
Raah!

(Kane! Sugar! Kane! Sugar! Kane!)

Athletes rejected, governerds corrected
Gangsters, thugs and smugglers are thoroughly respected
The money gets divided
The women get excited
Now I’m broke and it’s no joke
It’s hard as hell to fight it, don’t buy it!

(Freeze! Haha ha ha! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!)
Raah! (Blow!)

(Ahhh) Get higher, baby
(Ahhh) Get higher, girl!
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
C’mon!
Raah!

(White Lines) Vision dreams of passion
(Blowin’ through my mind) and all the while I think of you
(High price) a very strange reaction
(For us to unwind) the more I see, the more I do
(Something like a phenomenon) Baby!
(Tellin your body to come along, but white lines blow away)

Little Jack Horner sitting on the corner
With no shoes and clothes
This aint funny, but he took his money
And sniffed it up his nose

(Hey man, you wanna cop some blow?)
(Sure, what you got, dust, flakes or rocks?)
(I got China White, Mother of Pearl, Ivory Flake, What you need?)
(Well yeah, well let me check it out man, just let me get a freeze)
(Go ahead man, stuff I got should kill ya!)
(Yeah man th-that’s that’s raw, wuh)

(Freeze! Haha ha ha! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!
Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!)

Hello | Reviewer: Greenaum | 2/8/12
I heard it was always an anti-coke song, and GMF'd know about it. Originally it wasn't so obvious, it was sortof sarcastically, bittersweetly promoting blow. But it wasn't obvious enough for Americans (duh!). So they added the "Just say no!" bits.

If you remember the USA at the time, Nancy Reagan was very much into that message, it was a big deal in the media (ironically! knowing the media, and the 80s!). And when a 90-year-old senile arch-conservative told the country's kids it was better *not* to take hard drugs, they of course listened and stopped immediately, and everything was alright.

THis song is the greatest when they redo it in the movie shaun of the dead and the beginning is shaun and his friend singing the song and a zombie singing the inbetween parts. Aaah, aaah, aaah, aaah)-Shaun
Uhraah! - ZOMBIE
Bass!
And then they make fun of the zombie for not knowing the song lyrics! Its Awesome!

wow~ this song really brings back the memories... | Reviewer: Lisa | 1/10/08
I just caught a clip of this song on a VH1 special and decided to google it to see who sang it. It brings back some great memories of high school and some old dance moves. Thanks!

This ain't funny but he took his money and sniffed it up his nose | Reviewer: Kevin | 11/23/07
I used to love this song and now that I listen to it again I really thought the purpose of the song was you know, promoting the use of coke.
The lyrics make it look like he is going against it but he was a coke head and it's kind of oxymoronic.

what the song's about | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/21/07
This song was made with an anti-cocaine message, but in an interview with Grandmaster Flash, he admitted that the entire band was very much under the influence of the drug while making the song. Funny, but kind of cool I guess. Old school rap FTW.

this song is hilarious! | Reviewer: matt beeghly | 9/12/07
yeah i know plenty of dudes that go messed up on the stuff and this songs lingo is like an ancient version of what people say now, and you really cant tell if hes against or for it, all i know is that the dude who made this song was in fact a crack head. and the lyrics are hilarious, i mean it takes a good sense of humor to get on the microphone and yell out "FREEBASE!"

... I remember ~ | Reviewer: Sammy | 9/12/07
~ Early rap influenced rock... I first heard "White Lines" in a club, early 80's, on commerical quality vinal, on a very expensive turntable, with a very expensive diamond needle, system over 1,000 watts per channel. The clarity was astounding. Dancing to IT, the way you're supposed to do it, is suddenly stop when you hear the word, "FREEZE!" Once you hear the word "ROCK," everyone resumes... So much fun!

old school baby | Reviewer: MissBubbli | 7/7/07
This is part of my mom's old school music that she raised us on. I grew up loving this stuff, being the only little girl in my class who knew songs like this....and then years later i actually sit down and listen to the song and whoa, its about yay! lol i love it!!

White Melle And Grand Father Time......... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/6/07
The fact that there were 2 years, then 2 days between responses says it all, does it not?

Gary | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/13/07
The lyrics are good, but the artist is not Grandmaster Flash...it's Grandmaster Melle Mel.
