Just ^D nine lucky ^C soldiers had ^G come through the ^A night
^Em half of them ^Bm wounded and ^G barely ali ^A ve
Just ^D nine out of t ^C wenty was a- ^G headed for ^A home
with ^Em eleven sad st ^Bm ories to t ^C el ^G l. ^{A -}
I re ^C member quite ^G clearly when I ^Em got out of ^Bm bed
