Tenth Avenue North

You Are More

There's a girl in the corner
With tear stains on her eyes
From the places she's wandered
And the shame she can't hide

She says, "How did I get here?
I'm not who I once was.
And I'm crippled by the fear
That I've fallen too far to love"

But don't you know who you are,
What's been done for you?
Yeah don't you know who you are?

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

Well she tries to believe it
That she's been given new life
But she can't shake the feeling
That it's not true tonight

She knows all the answers
And she's rehearsed all the lines
And so she'll try to do better
But then she's too weak to try

But don't you know who you are?

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

'Cause this is not about what you've done,
But what's been done for you.
This is not about where you've been,
But where your brokenness brings you to

This is not about what you built,
But what He built to forgive you,
And what He built to make you know.

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

You've been remade
You've been remade.
You've been remade.
You've been remade.

You Are More Than The Choices That You’ve Made! | Reviewer: Randy Ehrler | 6/4/12
These lines haunt my thoughts –

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

This song serves as a tremendous reminder – of who we are in the eyes of God. I often forget. I get bogged down with the frustrations of life – with regret, envy, ambition, jealousy and judgment. I wallow in memory of opportunities lost, mistakes made and my many hurts and fears.

This is not what the Lord intended for us.

The battle in this life is always – every single day – between living in this world and living for the next. They are antithetical to one another. So much guilt, anger, resentment, and regret comes from the results our choices have brought us in this life – it has nothing to do with the next. We are unemployed, divorced, in debt, over-weight, single, pregnant, unable to get pregnant, over-worked, frustrated, lonely, uninspired, depressed - all of which comes from how the world makes us feel about ourselves. We develop selective perception and see that “everyone else” is exactly what we are not, that they have what we lack and enjoy what we wish we had the most.

The Grand Illusion in which we live thrives on competition and blind ambition. Who you are in this world is based on how you measure up to your neighbor – to appear perfect – to never reveal your struggles and pain. That’s why so many are so depressed – it is a no win game - everyone loses in the race to nowhere. Perfection is the enemy!

When our focus turns to the next life – our eternal life – we can let go of all of these negative feelings. It helps us remember that God is our Father in Heaven. Who on earth loves us more than our parents? No one! It is they who accept us as we are – would forgive us for anything we did and will always welcome us home. God loves us as we are. He wants the best for us, sees the best in us and wants us always to come home, to be in relationship with him and to strive to be all he intended us to be – as individuals and in relation to others. That’s it.

We are already forgiven. Regret and guilt accomplish nothing toward the next life – you have been forgiven and redeemed.

Remade.

Placing our focus on what is next frees us to remove the chains of this world – the feelings of failure – and strive to be what God intended us to be in this life as a means of preparing for the next. I believe that God has a plan for each of us – every experience prepares us for the fulfillment of that plan. Think of the Karate Kid – wax on, wax off - he didn’t understand the purpose of his training until it was needed. It is often only in hindsight that the purpose of our experiences becomes clear. I trust in the Lord’s plan for my life – I have been remade – I am more than the choices I have made (Thank God!). I will go forward in life trusting Him completely.

Peace & God Bless!

AMAZING and NEEDED | Reviewer: NotSayin | 9/25/11
This song always pops into my mind the moments that I don't know what to do anymore.. It's just so powerful that.. Its almost indescribable. Nuff cliche.

This song, those moments you feel like your an awful person, that you don't know anything, you can't do anything right. It just shows, God is more than that. He forgives and God's bigger then any sin you could've done.

God's working through this song to touch so many people. Me included.
<3 God Bless.

the power of gods love | Reviewer: cj | 9/14/11
this song reminds me of a time when all i thought about was death, and that suicide was the only way out; but then i was overcome with the feeling of love and compassion. it was like god was trying to reach me; he was saying, its okay cj, im here, i'll never leave you, i love you. i suddenly began to smile for the first time in over 3 months, i truly believe i was in heaven that day, and have devoted my life to god ever since.

We are much more | Reviewer: Aly | 7/9/11
This song reminds me so much of how much I really am worth. I feel down on myself even now, for the mistakes I've made. HUGE MISTAKES. I cry, and cry. I have to realize that God has made me more than the mistakes I've made.

Remade | Reviewer: Stefanny | 5/28/11
This song is so heart touching. Honestly, everyone can relate to this video because everyone goes through rough times. People get angry. People feel unloved. Difficult times reach, but when you are surrounded by fear, temptation, abd sin, pray to your father. Faithful words while praying, and believing in God. Also, forgetting the past, and starting a new day. The past is the past, today is a new day. You've been remade, as the song sings. God loved us so much he sent his one and only son, so if God can forgive us, we can forgive the past mistakes. His lov is unfailing. Never will he leave us, and if he gave us a second chance, we should use it. Let the gospel shine in us like bright stars at midnight. Let his words heal hearts, and bring people to him. Hallelujah, he reins!

Life changing | Reviewer: Jane's friend | 5/9/11
I've been crippled by fear for several years, which greatly affected my personal relationships. Recently what can only be described miracle happened in my life and released me from that fear.
This song so clearly speaks to me and reinforces that I have been remade and can move forward despite my past mistakes. And that despite those mistakes I can improve as a person, as a friend and as a partner and with the grace of God, never revert to my past ways and be governed by fear.
Thank you to the creators of this beautiful song for touching my heart with your music.

Thank you lord | Reviewer: Nathan | 4/27/11
i love this song because it makes me realize that me and a lot of my friends, being a freshman in high school, that we dont make a lot of the right decisions like disrespecting our fellow female classmates. but then seeing that we are forgiven for that and everything else we do wrong in our lives whether we be old or young or even middle aged

God's Forgiveness | Reviewer: Sara | 4/4/11
This song is a great explanation of Divine Forgiveness. We all make mistakes, even huge mistakes, God's Forgiveness through Christ's Work on the Cross, is bigger than those things.

I like this song because it counters two errors prevalent in the church today, namely, 1) the idea that we mist obey perfectly or we cannot be forgiven and, 2) the opposite idea that there is no sin to be forgiven in the first place.

I hope this song not only helps Christians understand that "if we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness," but helps them, in turn, to have compassion on their Brothers and Sisters in Christ & on the rest of the fallen world.

This song speaks a lot to me, especially since i've been through a horrible experience in my life and at the end of it, i turned back to Him, and found true life. Thanks for the reassurance of His love for us through your beautiful song. We are remade.

eye opening | Reviewer: em | 3/2/11
This song played in the car as I drove home from making some of the worst mistakes of my life. I felt so far from God, so ashamed and so unloveable, but He reached down and told me He still loves me, no matter what I do wrong- He'll never love me any less. I believe God is using this song in powerful ways and I'm so thankful this band doesn't stop proclaiming Gods truth.

I heard this song this morning and I was so moved by it. I don't even listen to this type of Gospel music, I am into more contemporary, but I loved this song. I looked it up, found out who sung it and I even purchased it online. Awesome song!
