Bonnie Raitt

Nobodys Girl2-crd

for the newsletter. Katie wrote in with a request, so I'm copying you
what I
sent her in case it's useful for the general publication. Sorry if
the tab's
are off & it's hard to read - hey everybody, listen to how Bonnie
does it and
you'll figure it out!)
Katie:
Good luck with this. If you're interested, Bonnie Raitt recorded it on
her
"Nick of Time" album, which also has lots of other excellent stuff
(of
course). She plays this with just a steel-guitar and very minimal
backup
rhythm - no percussion, no nothing else, and the effect is
jaw-dropping
beautiful.
NOBODYâS GIRL
She donât need anybody to tell her sheâs pretty
sheâs heard it every single day of her life,
heâs got to wonder what she sees in him when theyâre so many
others standing in line
she gives herself to him, but heâs still on the outside
sheâs alone in this world, sheâs nobodyâs girl, sheâs nobodyâs girl
She shows up at his doorstep in the middle of night
then she disappears for weeks at a time
just enough to keep him wanting more, but never is he satisfied
and heâs left to pick up the pieces wondering what does he do this for
sheâs off in her own little world, sheâs nobodyâs girl, sheâs nobodyâs girl
(bridge) He says before I met her i didnât love nothing
i could take it that was ok
she brings out a want in me, for
things I didnât even know that I need
She does anything she wants, anytime she wants to
with anyone, oh she wants it all
still she gets all upset over the least thing
man you hurt, it makes you feel so small
and sheâs a walking contradiction but i ache for her inside
sheâs fragile like a string of pearls, sheâs nobodyâs girl
sheâs fragile like a string of pearls, sheâs nobodyâs girl, ...
